Butterfly Kisses

A veined blue-purple
Shot through with cracks of white
Like I'm inside a crystal
Or behind a wall of
Colored Glass

Chill inside my sanctuary
There's nowhere left to go and
A silent tear
Travels down my cheek
To fall on the marble beneath me

And I wait for months
Wait to emerge
To Become
Something more than what I am
More than me

And I sit
Bated breath
My only distraction in
The fragile butterfly wings
Brushing against my cheek

And finally, I can see beauty
